Ahsoka agrees with George Lucas’ idea of the Force.

Ahsoka tells about a new Jedi Padawan who hasn’t shown any Force powers yet. But, it’s possible for them to learn how to use the Force.

Disney+ has a new Star Wars show called Ahsoka. It’s about Anakin Skywalker’s old student, Ahsoka, who now has her own student. The show has Rosario Dawson playing Ahsoka Tano during the time of the New Republic. It also has other characters from Star Wars Rebels, like Sabine Wren, who used to have the Darksaber and helped the rebels free Lothal from the Empire. Ahsoka tells us that Sabine started learning to be a Jedi from her.

Ahsoka and Sabine have been apart for a while when Ahsoka starts. It’s not known how long. Sabine had given up on her Jedi training, but Professor Huyang convinced her to start again. Fans were surprised that Sabine became a Padawan because she hadn’t shown any Force abilities before. But George Lucas says that all living beings can use the Force, so it’s okay.

The trailers for Ahsoka showed that Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren had a teacher-student relationship. This made people wonder if Sabine could use the Force because she had been taught how to use a lightsaber by Jedi Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger on Star Wars Rebels. When Sabine got the Darksaber and wanted to go back to Mandalore with it, Kanan thought she should know how to use it. Sabine had a hard time learning at first, but she got better and became good at fighting with it. However, being a Jedi is not just about using a lightsaber.

Ahsoka trained Sabine to be a Jedi, but they had a hard time working together because they were both stubborn. Ahsoka asked Sabine for help finding Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, but Sabine got hurt by Shin Hati’s lightsaber. In the next episode, Huyang talked to Sabine about her training and said that other Padawans were better at using the Force, but he didn’t say she couldn’t use it.

George Lucas said that anyone can use the Force.

Some Star Wars fans think only people born with the ability to use the Force can use it. But George Lucas, who made Star Wars, didn’t mean for it to be that way. In a talk with Lawrence Kasdan and Richard Marquand, Lucas said anyone can learn to use the Force if they try hard enough. He said only Jedi take the time to learn how to use it. This talk is in a book called The Making of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

The Jedi usually only accepted children who were born with a strong connection to the Force. They started training these children when they were young, so they had to choose carefully. Sabine wouldn’t have been chosen, but she can still learn. In a comic called The Rise of Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker told his students that they were like doors that needed to be opened to let the Force in. Some people’s doors were already open, but everyone’s door could be opened wider. Sabine isn’t connected to the Force yet, but with practice and training, she can learn to use it.
